The men’s and women’s cross country team battled some very good teams and heat at the Walt Crawford Open hosted by EIU. The meet had 15 different schools represented. The men’s team placed 5th overall and women’s team placed 11th.

The men’s team was lead again by the Webster brothers. Cody finished 4th overall and Austin finished 15th. Others in the top 5 for the men’s team was David Williams(60th), Baruf Kosgei(61st), and Gerrad Straube(77th).

On the women’s side Mallory Tharp lead the way again placing 48th overall. Others in the top five for the Lynx was Jamieria Stennis(74th), Akiya Thompson(80th), Kalina Gordley(119th) and Kaiyla Brooks(122nd).

Coach Herron said, “I was very pleased with our effort tonight. We knew that the times were going to be slower because of the heat so we were really focusing on running tough. I think we did that for the most part. Our teams seemed to look stronger as the races went on. Our guys beat all the other two year programs at the meet and several of our ladies showed great improvement. I am really looking forward to this weekend’s race hosted by Bradley University. This will be a big meet and I know we are going to drop some more time.”
