The Lincoln College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams competed at the Bradley Invite over the weekend.  The meet was held at historic Detweiller Park in Peoria, Illinois.  There were 13 teams represented at the meet.  The meet was scored in two divisions, the University and College divisions.  The women’s team placed 2nd in the College division behind Augustana.  The men’s team placed 3rd behind Morton and ICC.

Mallory Tharp was once again the ladies top runner.  She placed 4th in the College division with a new school record of 18:35.  Not far behind Mallory was Deijah Rivera-Watts, she placed 5th and her time of 18:44 places her 2nd on Lincoln’s top 10 list.  Running 3rd on the team but placing 8th was Sala Hanne.  Her time of 19:19 places her 4th on the top 10 list as well.  Rounding out the scoring for the ladies was Jamieria Stennis placing 17th and Deanna Anglin placing 18th.

John Davis lead the men’s team.  He placed 6th in the College division with a time of 28:03.  Spencer Mellow was right on his heals placing 7th.  Others placing for the Lynx were Brody Williams(11th), Brayden Batterton(13th), and David Williams(16th).

LC Coach Brian Herron:  This was a really exciting night for our teams.  I thought our ladies ran an awesome race and our men’s team is really starting to figure out how to race at the longer distance.  There was some very good competition here and I felt we did a much better job of running our own race and not getting caught up in all the hype.  We will have two weeks to work on some things before our next meet in Rock Island.  I can’t wait for them to race again.
