The Lincoln College men’s soccer team defeated McKendree University reserves 4-2 on Wednesday, September 12.

Lynx goals were scored by Diego Rodriguez (San Pedro Sula, Honduras – 2) and Cody Winter (North Rose, NY – 2).

“Overall, we played ok tonight,” Lincoln head coach Ben Massena commented.  “Game was 1-1 and we had a chance to go up 2-1 but we missed a penalty kick.  In the second half, we scored on another penalty kick but gave up a free kick outside out box that they curled around our wall and keeper.  Despite going down two men to red cards, we were able to possess a ball very well and get into good attacking zones and scored two more goals to win 4-2.”

“Our season has been hammered with injuries so far.  Today we sat four big minute guys and had another come down with a muscle pull.   Hopefully we will start getting healthy as the year goes on so by playoffs we can have all of our players back.”

Lincoln takes on Region 24 opponent Southwestern Illinois College at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 15 at Freesmeier Field in Lincoln.
