Lincoln, IL – The men’s soccer team took on Culver-Stockton JV for their final regular season home game and came away with a 3-0 shutout win.  The game started with several great scoring chances by the Lynx but they couldn’t find the net until late in the first half when Braxton Young (Warrensburg, IL) lifted the ball over the Culver-Stockton keeper to take a 1-0 lead.  The second goal came via Pierson Fleming (Springfield, IL), who normally tends goal for the Lynx.  Pierson hit an athletic volley up and over the Culver-Stockton keeper to send Lincoln up 2-0. Head coach Ben Massena said of Pierson, “We put Pierson on the field because we were resting a couple guys and he stated he had played forward in high school.  It was great seeing him score today!  He’s got great size and is very athletic.”

The final Lincoln goal came from sophomore defender Harrison Bennett (Tampa, FL) on a free header giving the Lynx the 3-0 shutout win.  The shutout victory by LC Keeper Kevin Cabrera (Miami, FL) was his 6th of the season.

The Lynx will host SWIC this Saturday, October 24 for a quarterfinal Region 24 tournament game.   Game time is set for 12:00pm.
