The Lincoln College Volleyball Team’s season came to an end on Saturday in the Region 24 District J Championship match. LC lost to the top seeded and nationally #3 ranked Cougars of Illinois Central College in three sets (25-18, 25-14, 25-13). The Lady Lynx did not go down without a fight though as they jumped out to an early 4-1 lead and battled their way to an eventual 16-12 advantage. It was at that point that LC stalled and ICC ran off 9 straight points to take control of the set. The defeat in set one took the wind out of Lincoln’s sails and they were unable to make either of the next two sets as competitive as the first. Lincoln finished the season with a final record of 17-14.

LC Head Coach Mark Tippett: The result today was not what we hoped for, but I have no complaints about the way our team competed. We knew going into this match that ICC was among the top teams in the nation, but our players did not back down from the challenge. In the early going we were the team that was controlling the tempo of the match by passing the ball to target, attacking aggressively, and putting up a strong block. It’s unfortunate that we were not able to maintain that level of play and win the first set, but we definitely forced ICC to play at their best in order to stop our momentum. My team made them earn every point today which is all a coach can ask for. Their performance showed once again how much this team has improved over the course of this season and that our players can compete at the highest levels. I am very pleased with what we were able to accomplish this season and proud of the way our team represented Lincoln College.
