On Friday,  the Lincoln College Volleyball team participated in a triangular set of matches at Harper College.  LC dropped the first match against the host school 21-25, 15-25, 16-25. Lincoln fell behind early in all three sets due to difficulty siding out.  The Lady Lynx bounced back from the defeat against Harper by pulling out a five set victory over College of DuPage.  LC looked to be cruising early in the match as they took the first two sets 25-14, 25-21.  However,  in sets three and four COD came to life and managed wins by scores of 21-25 and 25-27.  This set up a deciding set to 15.  LC (2-1) fell behind 5-8 but after a side out,  sophomore setter Ashley Robinson served five points in a row to put LC up 11-8.  Lincoln eventually held on for a 15-13 win to take the match.

LC Stat Totals:
Kenzie Cooper  26 kills
Gina Moore  12 kills
Katie Jordan  10 digs
Cassie Jennings  19 set assists
Ashley Robinson  15 set assists
Kayla Dierker  11 digs
Lauren Wendt  8 blocks
Peyton Jones  8 kills

LC Coach Mark Tippett:  We did not come out ready to play in our first match of the day.  Our serve receive game was very sloppy and led to giving up runs of points which we could not overcome.  When it came time to volley, we showed we could be competitive with Harper,  but the lack of consistency in passing the ball to target made for a rough match.  We played much better against a hard hitting COD team.  They were very good at hitting out of system sets and they had a couple of very tough servers.  We should have closed the match out in three sets,  but wound up having to go the distance to get the win.  I guess that’s just the up and down nature of early season volleyball.

Note: Lincoln College was to have hosted a match this Wednesday, but due to a scheduling error by their opponent (Joliet Junior College) the match has been canceled.  LC will next play on Friday at St.  Ambrose.
