LC Baseball Finish Florida Spring Trip 4-2

March 11, 2013

The Lincoln College baseball team wrapped up its Florida spring trip with a 4-2 record.  While down in Florida, Lincoln took on Delta, MI, Brooklyn, NY, and Kishwaukee, IL.

Head Coach Tony Thomas commented, “We played well all week, with only one bad game, and avenged that lose a couple of days later.   We showed improvement in all phases of the game throughout the week.  Freshman Cody Bolen (Emden, IL) came back with two wins on the mound.  Freshman Chance Simpson (Lewistown, IL) had a win and big 3 inning save, and Sophomore Cody Litwiller (Eureka, IL) did not miss a beat from last year’s offensive stats.  He is a gamer!!!   Overall we played well, with much needed improvement throughout the week, we got stronger offensively and continued to compete all week long.   After a tough 4th game loss to a very good ASA Brooklyn team, we avenged that with an 8-7 game 5 victory after trailing 6-0 in the 1st.  We showed heart and character all week and feel we have a very good group of guys.”

Coach Thomas added, “The weather was okay only 60-72 on average each day!!!  Chilly for Florida this time of year!!!”

Lincoln will take on Benedictine JV on March 12th, weather permitting.  One nine inning game will begin at 4:00pm.
