Men’s Basketball Season Recap
April 2, 2013
2013 Season Recap:
Notes from Lincoln College men’s head basketball coach, Pat Lepper:
The 2012-13 basketball season was an opportunity for growth, development and experience as the program moved on 10 players from last year’s team and welcomed 14 new members to the team this year as well as new head coach Pat Lepper.
Lincoln’s lone returner was Sam James who was joined this year by 12 freshman and two transfers.
Eager to show they were ready to play, the Lynx had major contributions from four of their newcomers throughout the year. Leading the attack was freshman Aaron Simpson and JoVaughn Gaines, the Lynx finished the year with a record of 18-14 and finished 4th in the conference. Gaining a lot of experience throughout the season the Lynx finished one game short of the Region Championship game, falling short to the eventual NJCAA National Champions Rend Lake College. The Lynx lost eight games by six points or less and feel they really gained a lot of valuable in-game experience for such a young team and are really looking forward to returning the core of their roster for the 2013-14 season.
With most of their talent and experience returning next season, the Lynx will look to battle for a conference title as well as a national title next season.
