Alumni Spotlight: Business Management
Major: Business Administration in Business Management
Why did you choose this program/major?
The Business Administration program was a perfect fit for my job. I was able to do well for several years by learning on the job. As time went by, I realized that I needed the formal education in business to help boost my knowledge as well as to help advance my career. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. As a result of my studies in the business program, I am able to apply to the knowledge directly to the work I do today.
Why did you choose to attend Lincoln College?
I had been considering going back to school for some time. However, the traditional programs didn’t meet my needs. As a working mom, I needed something that would fit my schedule. I also had a strong desire to finish quickly.
As I was driving home from work one night, I saw a billboard for the ABE program. I called the next day and got plugged into an information session. Hearing current students talk about the program sealed the deal for me. Going back to school as a working adult with a family is a hard and scary decision. The students who spoke at the orientation eased my fears. I figured if they could do it, then so could I.
I liked the small, close-knit community atmosphere at Lincoln College. Being part of a community of other students in similar situations as a big reason I chose Lincoln College.
What advice do you have for prospective Lincoln College students?
Learn from your fellow students. You are all in this together. It’s hard to balance work, school and family life. Talk to others who are going through it. Share ideas for time management. Boost each other up. Not only will you help one another, but you will connect with people who will be part of your life long after you leave college.
Best Lincoln College memory?
My favorite memory was working in teams on an “egg drop” project. We had to design and construct a device to protect our eggs from breaking as we dropped them from the balconies of the student apartments. The collaboration and energy on this project was exhilarating. We learned a lot about working on teams.
