LC Coach Mark Tippett: We played one good match this weekend and it was the one we needed to play well in. Defeating Rend Lake was important because they are a Region opponent and the win keeps us in position to earn a home match for the first round of Regional play at the end of the year. In that match we were able to control the tempo of the game by passing to target, hustling on defense, and our players made very few unforced errors. The opposite was true on Saturday morning as we struggled in all facets of the game. Net violations, lapses in focus on defense, and communication issues cost us any chance to be competitive against Kaskaskia. We straightened out a lot of that in the next match and played better, but just lost to a very skilled team. Hopefully we will learn from the mistakes of Saturday and get back on the right track Wednesday night.
LC will next play September 24 in Decatur against the Millikin University JV.
