The men’s and women’s cross country team claimed the Junior College titles at the 2012 Brissman/Lundeen Invite hosted by Augustana College. There were close to 40 colleges represented at the meet, 8 of which were two year programs. There were over 1,000 competitors combined in both races. The men’s team placed 12th overall. They were lead by Albert Murrey. He ran the 5 mile course in 26:04 and placed 25th overall. Others running in the top five for the men were Alek Stojanovic(81st), Jordan Staley(100th), Luke Padeskey(104th), and Taylor Singleton(220th).

The women’s team placed 25th overall. They were lead by Hannah Singleton. She ran the 6k course in a time of 24:12 to place 63rd. Others that ran in the top 5 for the ladies were Victoria Heller(138th), Tykeshia Thompson(267th), Jasmine Lofton(319th), and Rachel Whittaker(338th).

“Our main goal was to try and win both Junior Colleges titles and we accomplished that,” said head coach Brian Herron. “I thought our team did a good job of staying focused and aggressive in such a large meet. We will need to continue this type of focus as we move later into the season. I think this could be the best men’s and women’s team that we have had as long as they continue to work hard and improve.”

The team will compete next on October 6th at the St. Ambrose Invite.
