Head Coach Brian Herron said, “It was a very exciting day for both teams. The temperature today was unseasonably warm so we knew that times would suffer so we were racing today for place. Our athletes did a solid job of sticking to our game plan.  We had a dominate day on the women’s side.  I am very proud of them.  All season long we talked about winning the Region and the hard work paid off.  Mallory Tharp’s win was awesome.  For most of the race she was in 2nd or 3rd.  She made her move with a 1,000 meters to go and never looked back.  The men’s team was in a great position through most of the race. It wasn’t until the last mile that Danville Area pulled away from us.  I am proud of the guts and heart they showed.  They made it a very exciting race to watch, I couldn’t be more proud of them.  We now have a few weeks to do some fine tuning for Nationals.  If they continue to stay focused we could really move up in the rankings.  I can’t wait to see how they finish off the season.”
