Albert Murrey (Durham, NC) finished his athletic career at Lincoln College in a big way. He finished 7th overall and earned All-Meet honors. This is the highest individual finish in Lincoln College’s cross country history.
The men’s team finished 18th. Others running in the top 5 for the men were, Alek Stojanovic (Moline, IL) – 66th, Jordan Staley (Clinton Township, MI) – 129th, Alex Lucas (Moline, IL) – 176th and Taylor Singleton (South Pekin, IL) – 204th. The women had three individuals compete at the meet. Victoria Heller (Mapleton, IL) finished 99th, Hannah Singleton (South Pekin, IL) 124th, and Tykeshia Thompson (Akron, OH) – 168th. Both races saw over 350 competitors representing over 50 schools.
Coach Herron said, “It was great to see Albert Murrey place so well for us. I know that the men’s team was disappointed with their finish but we had some key injuries that had a huge impact on our final placing. These guys did have a great season we just didn’t have a great day today. As a team they achieved more than any of our previous teams including winning the Killer Bee Invite and most importantly winning the Region 24 title. They will be the standard from which all of our future teams will be judged. Our freshman ladies ran their best times of the year so I was very pleased with that. Hannah Singleton has been battling some injuries and simply did not have a good day today. She still finishes her cross country career as our school record holder and I look forward to getting her healthy for the upcoming track season. We now have to switch gears and get ready for a tough indoor and outdoor track season where we are the defending Region 24 champions.”
