The Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams competed at the 14 team Snowbird Invite hosted by Illinois College. Lincoln was the lone two-year athletic program at the meet. The men’s team finished in 5th and the women’s team finished in 7th.

Placing for the men’s team was Tylin Hall in 6th place in the long jump. Sabree Bakari won the high jump and Tylin Hall was 7th in the 60 hurdles. Dontae Adams and Roman Hampton place 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 60 while Earl Armstrong won the 400. Roman Hampton, Earl Armstrong, and Adams were 2nd, 3rd, and 6th in the 200. Finally, placing in 2nd place in the 4×400 relay for Lincoln was Earl Armstrong, Dontae Adams, Ed Lopez and Roman Hampton.

The Women’s team had several placers. Taya Burse and ShaTavia Lowery placed 3rd and 6th in the long jump. Bralon Mack and Carrissa Tinsley placed 2nd and 3rd in the shot-put. Two relay teams placed at the Snowbird Invite: The distance medley relay of Deanna Anglin, Amber Pierce, Markayla Rodgers and Jasmine Brooks placed 7th  and The 4×400 relay team of Apeasha Ashby, Amber Pierce, Stacia Lee and Taya Burse was 5th. In addition, Lincoln College had Taya Burse in 6th in the 60 hurdles and Stacia Lee was 2nd in the 60. In the 200 meter, Apeasha Ashby placed 6th to round out the Lynx great showing at the invitational.

Coach Herron said, “I thought we had a solid start to our season. This meet was a great way for us to gauge how we are as a team. We know we still have a lot of work to do but things definitely look promising.”

The Lynx will be in action again this Saturday at IWU.
