Student Loan Information
Federal resources for former Lincoln College students with outstanding student loans, including closed school loan discharge.
Where to start
If your school closes before you complete your degree, it is important to know about all of your student loans — your loan debt, which schools the loans were borrowed from, and who your current loan servicer is (the agency responsible for collecting payments on your loans).
-
How do I find all of my federal student loans?
Access your federal student loan information through the U.S. Department of Education at studentaid.gov, using your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID and qualifying personal identification information. Your account lists every federal loan you have received.
-
Who is my loan servicer?
When you log in to your Federal Student Aid account, each loan is assigned to a loan servicer — usually all of your loans are kept with one servicer. Selecting the servicer link brings up that servicer’s contact information.
-
Where can I find repayment options and loan terms?
Visit studentaid.gov/h/manage-loans. There you can complete loan exit counseling and use repayment calculators.
-
Do I still have to repay loans borrowed while attending Lincoln College?
It depends on several criteria, including whether you transferred credits to another school to complete your degree, and whether you were enrolled at the closed school within 120 days of its closure. The U.S. Department of Education’s closed school page answers many of these questions.
-
How do I discharge my student loans?
Loan discharge is the removal of your obligation to repay your loan under certain circumstances. Closed school discharge is available for Direct Loans, FFEL Program loans, and Perkins Loans. There are eligibility requirements to qualify, and you must apply. Review the requirements and application process at studentaid.gov.
